Printing Field Codes

Summary: Field codes allow dynamic information to be included in documents and can be a great boon. At some point you may want to print a copy of your document with field codes displayed. Here's how to do it.

If you use fields in your documents to any extent, you may want to print a copy of your document with field codes showing instead of field results. To do this, follow these steps:

  1. Click the Office button and then click Word Options. Word displays the Word Options dialog box.
  2. At the left side of the dialog box click Advanced.
  3. Scroll through the available options until you see the Print section. (Click here to see a related figure.)
  4. Make sure the Print Field Codes Instead of Their Values check box is selected.
  5. Click on OK.
  6. Print your document.
